Description: This Qualification develops knowledge and skills for employability as an independent guide within the Marine Tourism, Tourism and Outdoor Recreation industry.
The core skills covered includes planning and guiding outdoor recreation activities, marine and shore based tour guiding, snorkel and kayak guiding, OHS and risk management, first aid, elements of shipboard safety, food preparation on a vessel and quality service.
The skills learnt during this qualification are important life skills and are transferable to other areas of employment.
Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 near coastal) is also offered during the mid-year break. It is a highly recommended qualification to complement the Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation. This option will attract an additional cost.
Scuba diving is also offered as an optional addition to the course, with the capacity for you to train up to a level that will allow you to work as a dive guide on an international level.
Students will work with the Certificate II Outdoor Recreation Students in a mentoring and supervisory capacity.
