PD: Flatwater Guide - Paddle WA

Details

Flatwater Guide For teachers with 3 or more years practical experience in guiding school trips,
conducting paddling activities or similar.

A two day instruction and assessment course for the Paddle Australia (PA) Flatwater Guide Award.

Pre-requisite
• Flatwater (FW) paddling skills as explained in the FW Skills Award
• 5 or more FW trips plus 3 paddling activities as assistant plus 3 paddling activities as lead guide in the previous three years

Instruction and Assessment

$260 pp (Excludes PA registration Fees)

8.30am to 3pm
Ascot Kayak Club, Fauntleroy
Avenue, Ascot

This is not a skills development course. Candidates are expected to have paddling skill levels identified in the FW Skills Award.

This course will cover topics such as
• paddling guiding skills
• refining paddling technique
• rescues
• minimal impact practice
• interpreting weather and navigation
• trip intentions, float plans and risk management
• group management
If you need to improve your skills before taking on this course enrol in the Paddling Skills session on Friday 1st November
8.30am to 12.30pm. The cost of this session is included FREE for those undertaking this FW Guide course. Enquiries to Leonie
