National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme

The National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme (NOLRS) was established in 2003 by the Outdoor Council of Australia (OCA) and provides a transparent, national benchmark of individual currency in outdoor activity leadership skills.

NOLRS is the national registration scheme for individuals who lead groups in outdoor adventure activities.

For more information, or to register, visit the OCA website.

Outdoors WA supports outdoor leader registration see the policy position.

Benefits of NOLRS Registration

To outdoor leaders

  • Recognised by WA AAS: NOLRS is recognised by many of the Adventure Activity Standards (AAS) (link to WA AAS page) as a method of showing leader competency.
  • Nationally Recognised: based on nationally recognised training and assessment and can be used in all states and territories to show leader competency and currency.
  • Currency: enables registrants to remain current even though their original qualification may have been superseded or expired.
  • Reduces complexity: one NOLRS card can be used instead of numerous certificates and qualifications.

To employers

  • Recognised by AAS: NOLRS is recognised by many of the Adventure Activity Standards (AAS) as a method of showing leader competency.
  • Nationally Recognised: based on nationally recognised training and assessment and can be used in all states and territories to show leader competency and currency.

  • Reduces complexity: one NOLRS card can be used instead of numerous certificates and qualifications.
  • External Benchmark: provides an external benchmark for employee competency and currency.
