Outdoors WA has been part of the review process involving a range of states.

Many may remember the consultations we first hosted in 2015 and then November 2016  to ensure WA was well represented.

Your feedback on training is valuable to get a system that works for us all.

The Outdoor Recreation discussion paper outlines what work SkillsIQ has already undertaken. During 2014 - 2016 considerable scoping and industry engagement activity was undertaken (including forums in WA) to define the extent and nature of development required to proactively respond to skills development needs in the Australian Outdoor Recreation industry. There was significant support for a thorough and extensive rewrite. The Draft 1 documents, developed in consultation with 10 Expert Working Groups and the O Rec TAC, look significantly different to the current versions.

The discussion paper also includes the proposed direction and some templates and examples of how the streamlined approach could work if implemented. Feedback will be open until 17 September. SkillsIQ encourages industry to review this document and provide feedback. Feedback can be submitted online at

https://www.skillsiq.com.au/FeedbackForum/TrainingPackages1/SISSport/OutdoorRecreationDraft1Consultation

We would encourage you to share any concerns with us at office@outdoorswa.org so that we can support the direction and raise any concerns from WA.
