News - Bushwalking & Trail running Strategy Community forums 15th & 19th June (closed)

06-Jun-2018

Statewide Strategy Community forums 15th & 19th June
Work on the development of a statewide trails strategy for both bushwalking and trail running continues. The online survey organised by Sport & Rec. and Parks & Wildlife Service closed on 29 April and achieved an excellent total of over 1700 responses.

The strategy managers and stakeholders will now review the outcomes of the survey in preparation for

Community Forums to be held on Tuesday 15th June 10am-12pm and Friday 19th June 6pm-8pm at DLGSCI Sport & Rec. building in Leederville.

The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions have invited you to attend 1 of 2 Industry Forums for the development of the WA Bushwalking and Trail Running Strategy. The forums will build on the extensive work to date that has included a survey with 1,700 respondents, a review of literature and 10 targeted interviews.

There will be two identical forums on 15 June (10.00 am to 12.00 pm) and 19 June (6.00 pm to 8.00 pm).

To allow regional community groups the opportunity to contribute to the strategy, the forum on 15 June will be video conferenced to DLGSC offices in all regions. If participating through a regional office, please note the contact details on the registration page and communicate directly with the relevant office.

To register and for more information on:

Industry Forum 1  (Metro and Regional) – Friday 15 June 10.00am-12.00pm go tohttps://register.evnto.com.au/BQOLIJ/wa-bushwalking-and-trail-running-industry-forum-3

Industry Forum 2 (Metro) – Tuesday 19 June 6.00pm-8.00pm go tohttps://register.evnto.com.au/XEIUN6/wa-bushwalking-and-trail-running-strategy

Please note that there has been overwhelming interest in this project and numbers are strictly limited to the capacity of each venue. Unfortunately, it is not possible to attend unless you have registered.

Outdoors WA is supporting the work of the Stakeholder Reference Group for the project, helping ensure that the outdoors community is well represented in the process.

We look forward to a clear strategy to support the growth of bushwalking and trail running in WA.
