News - Country Week Outdoor Education Forum (closed)06-Sep-2019The recent Country Week Outdoor Education Forum was a success with over 20 outdoor education teachers coming together to share their challenges and successes in providing outdoor education in the bush. Peter Treeby from Northam Senior High opened the proceedings along with presentations from our executive officer Jamie Bennett and Dr Duncan Picknoll. The topics covered included discussing the challenging environment that teachers are facing with policy changes, increased expectations for duty of care and demonstration of educational outcomes for the school community. There was much collaboration between each group, with each person taking home some more ideas on how to ensure that outdoor education is supported in their own school. Resource development Outdoors WA is compiling the discussion materials and feedback and will create a resources that can be utilised by other schools. It you would like to get a copy of those materials please contact us at office(at)outdoorswa.org Thanks to Nathan and the crew from Compleate Angler and Camping World in Rockingham for also sponsoring the event with a WE Hiking backpack.
