News - Industry Skills Forecasts released for outdoor leaders, sport and recreation

Sport and Recreation IRC Industry Skills Forecast

The Industry Skills Forecasts from SkillsIQ have been recently updated and publicly released. These have been developed from a variety of meetings and consultations with stakeholders, desktop research.

The report covers the sport and recreation sector across Australia and some of the opportunities and challenges that are ahead.

In particular the report recognises the economic value of the outdoors economy. i.e. in Victoria the nature based outdoor economy is worth $6.2 billion to the Victorian economy. This is in addition to the many social and lifestyle benefits.

An IRC’s Industry Skills Forecast provides an overview of the sector and the current challenges and opportunities it faces, along with an analysis of current and projected employment and workforce skills needs. It proposes a schedule for the ongoing review of relevant training package products to inform the AISC’s development of the four-year rolling National Schedule.
