CAMP KULIN PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The Shire of Kulin has an exciting position available for a vibrant, mature, enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Camp Kulin team.

Camp Kulin, located in the WA Wheatbelt, runs camps for children, teens and adults, including scholarship camps for children affected by trauma, general camps, school camps and ladies camps. Camp Kulin has received numerous awards at State and National level, and its teambuilding and leadership program has been recognised as one of the best of its kind in the world.

The Camp Kulin program is growing at a rapid rate, with campers and volunteers travelling from across the country to attend. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our team to assist with the running of the program.

The position will include customer service and administration tasks; dormitory management and activity facilitation of the Camp Kulin Kids Camp programs; management of the Camp Kulin volunteer program; facilitation of school, corporate and ladies camps; co-ordination of fundraising events; representation of Camp Kulin at events and functions where required and other tasks as required.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

Essential:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and oral presentation);
  • Ability to work with and develop strong working relationships with children and young people;
  • Demonstrated skills in working with and an understanding of barriers and difficulties facing children and youth at risk;
  • Ability to facilitate large groups of children and adults and run own programs;
  • Ability to plan and execute projects with minimal directions;
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team, including supervision of teams of volunteers;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Current first aid certificate;
  • Current Working With Children Check;
  • Current Federal Police Clearance;
  • Current Driver’s License

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Teaching or relevant field;
  • Knowledge of camp operations and structure;
  • Lifeguard or bronze medallion certification;
  • Bus/HR license.

This position includes onsite residential camp programs, and some weekend work is required. Subsidised housing is provided. Salary is negotiable based on the experience of the applicant.
