This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2019

Kalbarri District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified passionate and committed Health and Physical Education teacher for 2019.

As the suitable applicant you will be able to teach West Australian Curriculum Physical Education and Health courses from Year 7 to 10 students and WACE courses for year 11 and 12. The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications to teach Outdoor education, Cert ll in Outdoor Recreation and hold a Certificate lV in Training and Assessment, or be willing to obtain relevant qualifications immediately. It is also essential that the applicant has a thorough knowledge of all policies related to outdoor recreational activities and the required water safety qualifications.

The successful applicant with have demonstrated organisational skills as he/she will be required to organise swimming and athletics carnivals, our school’s involvement in primary interschool activities and secondary Country Week excursions. Excellent communication skills are important as this role involves communication with staff, student, parents, staff from other schools as well as the Country Week organisational staff. It would be desirable for the applicant to have a connection with the local environment and the recreational activities it provides. The successful applicant will be versatile and committed to student achievement through providing students with rich and engaging learning experiences to enable them opportunities for success. As we are a District High School, the willingness and demonstrated ability to work across all ages to plan and deliver a Physical Education program is an advantage to the school.

Kalbarri is situated at the mouth of the Murchison River and surrounded by Kalbarri National Park. Our Physical Education program currently provides opportunities to incorporate our rich natural environment into exciting, engaging and challenging activities.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
