Outdoors WA strongly believes in the benefits of people getting outdoors and being active. Not just for the physical benefits but also for the social, mental and spiritual benefits too. Plan an adventure with someone, or join a group and meet new friends or soak up the time out and peace by yourself.
Enjoy the fresh air, open spaces and the calming affect of nature. Get away from your screens, your Things To Do list, your never ending housework.
As a peak body for the outdoor recreation industry in WA we aim to advocate and support local outdoor recreation businesses, camp operators, retailers and Outdoor Ed teachers to ensure the best opportunities are available for the WA community.
Get active. Get a break. Get away from your woes. Get Out.
To promote, encourage and increase outdoor activity participation for all Western Australians.
To provide opportunities and support to encourage and empower a growing number of the WA community to actively participate in outdoor recreational activities for mental, spiritual, social and physical well being.
To also advocate for those working in the Outdoor Recreation industry.
The need to be active
Inactivity is having a negative impact on our physical and mental health and waistlines. Australia is now the third most obese English speaking country in the world, with two thirds of adults and a quarter of children considered overweight or obese.
This inactivity is costing our country and our populations health dearly. One study predicts Australia faces $88 billion of extra health and social costs over the next 10 years if people don’t get moving. – Sport Australia
You only have one body, treat it with respect and give your overactive mind a rest.
