What to pack

When you go camping there is a lot to take, whether it be for 1 night or 2 weeks. Ideally you would like to pack as minimal as possible. Here are the basics to pack, however, I am sure there are some ‘luxury items’ that you can squeeze in if it will make your holiday that bit more enjoyable!

Day Hike pack & Wear

  • Backpack
  • Sturdy shoes
  • Protective Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Minimum 2 litres of water per person per day
  • Insect repellant
  • Map, guide book or phone GPS
  • Snacks or meal depending on length of trail
  • Clothes to suit the weather conditions
  • First Aid kit
  • Hiking poles

Hiking Overnight

The same as a day hike plus

  • Extra minimum 2 litres of water per person
  • More snacks and meals- nuts, dried fruit, muesli bars, etc
  • Clothes to suit the weather/night conditions
  • Torch/ headlamp
  • Sleeping bag & foam mattress

Camping (with car)

  • Tent and mallet for tent pegs
  • Mattress
  • Sleeping bag
  • Pillow
  • Toothbrush & toothpaste
  • Bottled water
  • Food, cutlery & plates
  • Cooker if cooking
  • Toilet paper
  • Torch/lantern
  • Warmer clothes for night
  • Bug spray

Bibbulmun Track/ long hike
