Farmstays are such a great experience for kids, and grown ups, as it gives kids freedom to run around and the chance to meet and interact with the animals and see how farms operate. It gets them away from structured activities and let’s them explore, discover and roam and get creative with their time. Here are some popular Farm Stays for you to consider!

Boshack Eco Retreat Farm– 640 Wattening Spring Rd, Bolgart (NE of Perth)
A 300 acre outback farm where children and adults have a fully interactive experience to get up close and personal with petting and feeding the ducks, birds, ponies, horses and other animals. Also trailer rides and canoeing on the lake.

Also available for school camps and corporate groups.

Big Valley Campsite– Margaret River- 46 Boronia Rd, Rosa Glen

It is nestled amongst the hills of our family owned working sheep farm, ten minutes South East of Margaret River. Home to sheep, chickens and so many guinea pigs for the kids to cuddle too.
The farm encompasses a beautiful secret valley hidden from the outside world by natural forest. Central to the Margaret River region and its tourist attractions.  Sites for tents, caravans and motorhomes on this working farm.

Ferguson Farmstay– 930 Henty Rd, Henty- Ferguson Valley  08 9728 1392

Ferguson Farmstay is located in the beautiful Ferguson Valley, only 30 minutes’ drive east from Bunbury and less than two hours’ drive south of Perth. The chalets and a function centre are situated on top of the undulating Darling ranges, giving spectacular views of farmland and vineyards all the way to the Bunbury coast. If you look closely, you might even spot a ship docking in the Bunbury harbour.

Ferguson Farmstay is a place for families, with a menagerie of farm animals for kids young and old (goats, ponies, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, cows, etc), a large playground, a tennis court, basketball court, trampoline and large lawn area. Families are invited to participate in farm activities which take place every morning of their stay.

Lavendale Farm Country Retreat– 5895 Great Southern Highway, Gilgering-
10 minutes’ south of York and a 90 minutes from Perth.

Featuring accommodation offering beautiful rural views, Lavendale Country Retreat are set along 64ha of land along the banks of the Avon River.

Children can help feed the animals. Horses, hens, donkeys, alpacas, cows, pigs and sheep are amongst the farm animals. There is an indoor activity room with a table tennis table, foosball table and a large drawing board. Option to stay in various cottages.

Blue Hills Farmstay– 410 Weir Rd, Harvey

Bluehills Farmstay is a beautiful property overlooking the magnificent Harvey Dam and enjoys rolling views of the Darling Range.

Each of the chalets sleeps six. Activities on the farm include animal feeding, collecting the eggs, patting the rabbits, catch and release yabbies, campfires, bushwalking to the eagle nest, underground trampoline, swings and cubby.

11 kms from the highway, passing traffic is a rare thing at Kirup Cabins. The quiet really allows you to appreciate the sounds of surrounding bush, like listening to the wind as it passes through our sweeping valley. And with no light pollution the stargazing is magnificent!
