A replacement for NOLRS and refresh for the AAAS & GPG

NEW OUTDOOR LEADERS’ REGO SCHEME

Since the National Outdoor Leaders Registration Scheme dissolved in June 2021, the WA outdoor industry has been left wanting.  That’s why we are massively pleased to announce that Outdoors WA has been able to secure the funding to start work on establishing a new Outdoor Leaders Registration Scheme for our state.

We will be engaging with industry to kick off this project soon, and seek extensive industry consultation to develop a solution that ensures all programs across the state are delivered by suitably qualified providers, giving both the industry and participants peace of mind.  Great news for the industry.

Stay tuned for more information soon.

UPDATES FOR THE AAAS & GPG

In a double whammy for the industry, Outdoors WA is also pleased to announce that in partnership with its peer state peak bodies in QLD, NSW, VIC & SA, and with the Outdoor Council of Australia, we have all been successful in raising essential funding to enable a review of the Australian Adventure Activity Standard and Good Practice Guides. OCA Welcomes Funding to Review the Aust. AAS & GPGs

This will provide a timely refresh to this industry voluntary good-practice framework for safe and responsible planning and delivery of led outdoor adventure activities with dependent participants.

This will be a significant project which will be kicking off in this new financial year and coordinated through the Outdoor Council of Australia.

Outdoors WA looks forward to representing its Members’ interests on this project.

DUKE OF ED ACTIVITY PROVIDERS

You may have noticed that the Activity Provider directory operated by The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia has recently been removed from the National website. This is deliberate because of arising liability issues related to the ongoing assumption that the Providers are endorsed by the National Body.

To help providers in WA ensure they can still be represented, Outdoors WA has agreed to host a listing for their WA Members. This by no means implies any endorsement of the listed Providers. It remains the responsibility of the Duke of Ed Leaders to do their due diligence before committing to Adventurous Journeys or Gold Residential Projects.

If you are an Outdoors WA Member who would like to have your organisation listed, please contacts us at: connect@outdoorswa.org.au
