Horse Riding

There are a number of stunning trails for horse riding throughout WA, as well as beautiful beach settings. What a great way to combine a love of the outdoors with a love of animals.

Horse Riding Trails

There are some scenic bridle trails around WA to take your horse for a trot.

Some of our favourites are Bold Park Bridle Trail, Jarrahdale Bridle Trail, Les Couzens in amongst the trees in Dwellingup, Wilson Inlet Heritage Trail by Denmark River, The Stidwell Bridle Trail in Albany or if you’re up for a longer walk then Railway Reserves Heritage Trail (41kms) in the Perth Hills or the 10th Light Horse Bridle Trail (45.5kms) from Harvey to Binningup.

For a more extensive list of equestrian trails visit TrailsWA.

Horse Riding in National Parks

Riding in parks is permitted only on designated roads and trails and these designated national parks. In a small number of parks, riding is also permitted off-trail in broad clear areas such as beaches and sub-alpine plains. Riding is never permitted in declared wilderness areas.

Horse Riding on the Beach

There are a few places that you can take your horse for a gallop along the sand and a dip at the beach. but here are some of them….

ROCKINGHAM:

BUSSELTON AREA: Before 9am at Forrest Beach, south of Peppermint Grove Beach

KALBARRI: Big River Ranch Kalbarri

ALBANY: Middleton Beach. Horses are allowed on Middleton Beach from Griffith Street south, and are permitted to train (ie gallop) from dawn to 9am.

Horses have priority of way during these hours but should be aware the area is also utilised extensively by walkers and people exercising their dogs.

Horses are also allowed to exercise in the water here between 9-11am and 1-3pm.
